Like many mothers, Zibby Owens felt overwhelmed, stressed and worried about not spending enough quality time with her four children.

However, the title did not appeal to publishers, nor did Owens’ lack of major followers.
So instead of writing a book, Owens launched the “Moms Don’t Have Time to Read Books” podcast in March 2018. Each episode features an interview with an author on what’s important to them and gives busy readers both popular history and undiscovered essays and books.
Today, the podcast has been downloaded millions of times and its long guest list includes big names like singer Alicia Keys, actress Lena Dunham and First Lady Dr Jill Biden.
The podcast’s success saw Owens finally become a published author earlier this year. Her latest book, âMoms Don’t Have Time to Have Children,â was released in November. But it will do something even bigger in 2023 when it launches its own publishing house, Zibby Books.
âAfter interviewing around 900 authors and working with three publishers myself, I got to see what the common issues are in the publishing industry,â Owens said. “I didn’t think writers were treated as well as they should be, so I wanted to turn it all around and make it all around the writer and the reader.”
Zibby Books will publish 12 books per year, one per month, and to reflect the importance of collaboration, the company will have a profit-sharing bonus program, in which 75 percent of profits each year will be divided equally among employees of the society. and its published authors.
