Nour Sultan [Kazakhstan], Oct 10 (ANI): Foreign ministers of countries participating in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) will discuss possibilities of providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, the ministry said on Sunday. Uzbek Foreign Office.
The meeting will be held in Nur Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan, on October 11-12, Sputnik reported. Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar will attend the 6th Ministerial Meeting.
“During the meeting, it is expected to discuss security issues and further development of regional economic cooperation, as well as the situation in Afghanistan, including the possibility of providing assistance to the Afghan people to try to stop the formation of a humanitarian crisis, “the ministry said in a statement.
The Uzbek delegation that will participate in the CICA meeting will be headed by the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulaziz Kamilov.
On September 1, the Kazakh Foreign Ministry announced that the next meeting of the CICA also plans to adopt an updated version of the CICA catalog of confidence-building measures that are essential “in the context of the evolution of the geopolitical situation in the region “.
Established in 1999, the CICA is a forum aimed at strengthening cooperation by developing multilateral approaches to promote peace, security and stability in Asia.
It currently has 27 Member States and 9 Observer States and 5 Observer Organizations. India has been a member of CICA since its inception in 1999 and has actively participated in various activities carried out under the aegis of CICA. (ANI)
