Digital trade will give big boost to economic empowerment: Dr Ashwath

Bangalore, February 12: Digital trade and its reach would give a big boost to economic empowerment and enable trade within and with other countries, Dr. CN Ashwath Narayan, Minister of Higher Education and Education, said on Saturday. IT/BT and Skills Development.

Inaugurating the Job Mela organized at the PDA College in Kalaburgi and chatting with the students, the minister said that digital marketplaces would provide full job security.

Dr. Narayan said a memorandum of understanding has been signed with the Nandi organization to provide training for graduate students in digital marketing and the training is underway across the state. Students should receive a quality education and also strive to improve their skills, he said, stressing that this would enable students to become entrepreneurs.

He pointed out that the Kalyana Karnataka region is well known for its artistic and traditional occupations, which must be nurtured and preserved. The State Skill Development Corporation is also working towards this end and providing better marketing facilities for artisans and handicraft manufacturers.

GTTC has set up English language training courses and skills empowerment programs in Koppal and Yadgir, which would provide marketing training to 200 young people each. Koppal will also have a toy group to train 25,000 young people in toy making, he said.

The Karnataka Skill Development Corporation has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the State Vishwakarma Development Corporation to provide training in traditional community trades such as goldsmiths and silversmiths, carpentry and carving to unemployed youths.

The Minister then participated in the 45and anniversary of Sri Siddalingeshwara Book Depot and Publishing House and release of 115 books released to mark the occasion.

Dr. Narayan also inaugurated the HemareddyMallamma Chair of Study at the University of Kalaburgi.
