When Frank Ocean launched the first jewelry collection from his new luxury brand, Homer, last month, he also announced a future collaboration with Prada. While it kept details typically ambiguous, images of the crossover collection appeared in a catalog, available on demand or at the Homer store in New York City.
But now it’s official. More details on the multi-hyphenated artist’s collaboration with the Italian label are courtesy of Huxley. “Homer has reinvented three Prada pieces, each in four unique colors,” the talent company writing on Instagram. “Made in Italy by Prada, the collection includes anorak, backpack and belt bag, with an internal co-branded label.”
Sharing footage taken by Tyrone Lebon of the bags and the anorak on his own social media, Ocean hints that it could be the first in a series of joint collections, writing: “PRADA 1 OF ??”
He also answered the question everyone is asking: How do we get a Prada x Homer piece for ourselves? If you haven’t guessed it already, it’s not quite that simple. Avid customers can either go through the IRL store at 70-74 Bowery, New York or send a message to (212) 410-3300 (but only through the Signal encrypted messaging app).
Much to everyone’s delight, Frank Ocean became the face of Prada in January 2020, nearly a year after showing his allegiance to the label at the 2019 Met Gala.
Regarding Homer, Ocean has meanwhile evoked his desire to “make things last”, as suggested by the name which represents “carving history in stone”.
“Hand on my heart, this project got my mind and my imagination moving throughout it all,” Ocean wrote on Instagram after the launch last month. “Now all my work is dedicated to my family. All. My hope is to do things that last, that are hard to destroy, set it in stone. “
