The question was worded carefully so that Henderson didn’t directly ask Denyer if the rumors were true, only if he had taken any medication since the rumors came to light.

His co-host Kyle Sandilands laughed: ‘Ha! It’s true, I remember!

Denyer replied: “Have I ever used an illegal substance since it was rumored that I had…?” No, I haven’t used any illicit substance since that rumor, no.

Grant vehemently denied the rumors and released a statement saying he would take legal action against the publication, which never materialized.

A Women’s Day spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia in July 2014: ‘To the best of our knowledge, no legal proceedings have been initiated at this time.’

“Women’s Day stays true to our history.”

Grant’s agent, Titus Day, said at the time that although legal action was considered, it ultimately proved too costly for the Denyers.

“Legal costs were estimated at over a million dollars and at least a two year wait until there is a trial. It was an important consideration then and probably still is,” Day said.

Speaking to Daily Mail Australia the same year, Grant described the history of Women’s Day as “a very hurtful and uncomfortable thing”.

“It was a cruel article from a stupid magazine, so I’m not too worried about it. If the sticks and stones hurt me too much, I probably shouldn’t be on TV,” he said. added.
