To celebrate its 46th anniversary, alongside the delivery of issue 900 last March, the iconic Japanese magazine POPEYE officially launched its online store. Announced last week, the decision to create its new digital platform reflects the magazine’s vision of not being bound by the idea of mere “information”. The launch of the online store is accompanied by the release of the “POPEYE “Special Logo” merchandising collection.
The offer is centered on the signature POPEYE logo, designed by renowned art director, Seiichi Horiuchi. In addition to creating the logo in 1976, Horiuchi also designed each POPEYE magazine in the 1970s.
the POPEYE The Special Logo range features a variety of items and aims to perpetuate the respect for fashion, music, film and food associated with the magazine. The collection’s hoodies and t-shirts feature a relaxed fit and use sustainable ECOCYCLE®︎ bases made in the USA. Each style is also marked with a special “P” tag with “for City Boys!” on the back. The clothes come with similarly branded items like an onsen (hot spring) towel, envelope bag, patterned tape, and stickers.
