“China’s fight against COVID-19 has once again attested to the fact that the CCP remains the pillar that the Chinese people can reliably lean on when crises strike,” Xi wrote.

Xi’s article, which appeared in the Qiushi Journal, also summarized the CCP’s historical experience and strength as well as party building.

“It also shows that China’s socialist system is the strongest institutional guarantee to ward off risks and challenges,” the article said.

Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, wrote the article in time for this year’s 16th issue of Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.

Xi noted in the article that during the 19th CPC National Congress, he unequivocally placed Party strengthening first, stressing the importance of strengthening Party political building as a primary principle.

“Strengthening the Party through political construction is an important guarantee that has enabled the CCP to keep growing and achieve one victory after another,” the article said.

He added that the main task of party building is to make sure that everyone obeys the CPC Central Committee and upholds its centralized and unified authority and leadership.

“Party members must maintain the right political leadership, the leadership of the CCP and the Chinese socialist system,” the article said.

Xi had previously written articles on promoting the socialist rule of law with Chinese characteristics in February; make China a world entry for science and innovation in March; on learning history in June; and on strengthening history teaching among military personnel in July, all published in the Qiushi Journal.
